Hi,

I am currently on a 457 and will be applying for a employer sponsored PR in Feb. I would like to know how long this will take to come through? And also any tips on making it easier/quicker?

Thanks!!

Hello Dazza and welcome to the forum.

Applying for PR from a 457 can take anything from 1 week to 3 months depending on what state you are based in, if you are going for an ENS or RSMS and if all your documents are 'front loaded'.

The best way to ensure an application is processed quickly is to ensure that all the required documentation is suplied with the application (Police Clearance, Medicals, Sponsors financials etc).

As a guide Melbourne are processing ENS applications very quickly - within a week sometimes. While Sydney are currently taking about a couple of months.

Thanks,

I am currnetly in Sydney. Would you recomend using an agent?

Hello Dazza,

Well, I do know a good one...

But seriously I would recommend using an agent. Especially when it comes to an Employer Nominated visa. It is important that the sponsor provides the correct documents relating to the financials, training etc.

Feel free to PM me if you need further advice.

Hi Katy

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

Which permanent visa do your employers have in mind? The ENS visa or the RSMS visa:

Skilled Workers Permanent Visa Options- Employer Sponsored Workers - Workers - Visas & Immigration

Employer Sponsored Migration Booklet - Australian Immigration

With the RSMS visa it is sometimes possible for the employee to do without a skills assessment. With an ENS visa it is only possible to hurry things up if the employment is very highly paid or the employee gets a skills assessment first. Hence which visa the employer is considering is important.

A list of occupations is below:

A-Z Occupations List - Australian Skills Recognition Information

Marketing Specialist requires a degree for a skills assessment. Do you have a degree? If you have a degree, the skills assessment authority for your occupation is Vetassess. They have changed all their rules with effect from 1st January 2010. The new rules are here:

Nominating an occupation (General professional occupation) - VETASSESS

How do you stand on the whole thing?

Cheers

Gill

Hi,

Thank you for coming back to me so quickly!

I don't have a degree, all my experience etc is from years experience working for businesses and also 9 years in my own Company. I have achieved National Recognition and won awards for businesses I have worked with and represented.

My employer is I don't think too bothered about which Visa, I have been approached by one of their suppliers since working for them and they are just very keen to secure my services asap and know that I am looking to gain permament visa status asap so that my family have more security as this was always a risk coming out???

I presume the Visa where I don't have to get my skills assessed would be the option they take, can you please advise which of the two this would be?

Also would I be able to apply even after being here for just a few months.

I very much look forward to your reply and thank you for your advice.

NB Have made some great friends since we arrived, also PIO addicts!!!!
